COURSE DESCRIPTION
The curriculum involves 300 Hours, of which 300 hours meets the Illinois State requirements. The course includes extensive instruction and practical experience in hair braiding, twisting, natural styling, weaving and other extension applications, along with retailing products and business ethics. The curriculum also includes State laws and regulations, sanitation, personal appearance and hygiene, quality customer service, personal motivation and development etc. The approximate completion date of day full time program is 12 weeks, based on 25 clock hours per week. The approximate completion date of evening part time program is 20 weeks, based on 15 clock hours per week.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
To provide a quality educational system preparing each student to pass the state board examination. Our quality system includes providing an outstanding facility, experienced and competent instructors, and a curriculum developed through years of experience and expertise.
To train and graduate students who are prepared, confident and exit to enter a successful career within the salon and beauty industry.
MEASURABLE PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Receive the required number of clock hours of training.
Complete and receive passing grades on all practical graduation requirements and projects to include examinations, both practical and theoretical.
Satisfactory pass final written and practical exams.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
A total number of 300 mandatory part time hours of theory and practical coursework required to complete the program. There will be no exception to this rule!
Students must pay all fees for materials needed for the course which include textbooks, supplies and uniforms. The materials are due by the beginning of the first day of class.
Must provide a 1000 word essay detailing what inspired you to become a Licensed Hair Braider
Students are required to attend all classes and pass all written assignments, quizzes and final exams with an average score of 80% or better to be eligible to sit for Illinois State Licenses.
Students will be graded on all practical and written assignments. Professionalism, safety and daily attendance will play a major role in each student’s ability to pass all courses. Attendance to all classes is mandatory.

The course includes extensive instruction and practical experience in hair braiding, twisting, natural styling, weaving and other extension applications, along with retailing products and business ethics. The curriculum also includes State laws and regulations, sanitation, personal appearance and hygiene, quality customer service, personal motivation and development etc. The additional 300 hours expounds on natural hair care practice and procedures including hair wefting, wig making and transitional styling. Other professional topics include time management, professional success and caring for yourself. The approximate completion date of day full time program is 24 weeks, based on 25 clock hours per week.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
An approved hair braiding program that provides hair braiding teachers training utilizing a teacher program that includes 600 clock hours (1 credit hour equals 30 clock hours) of instruction. The instruction includes Educational Psychology; Teaching Methods; Application of Teaching Methods and Business Methods. The approximate completion date of day full time weekend program is 50 weeks, based on 12 clock hours per week.

The approved program for a 500-hour Teacher Training Course shall be based on 2 years of practical experience as a hair braider and shall consist of the teacher training curriculum outlined in subsection (a) with the exception of the 100 hours of post-graduate training.
Must have a minimum of (2) two years experienced as a professional natural hair stylist followed by a list of (3) three professional reference from resources which include an (1) Employer (2) Colleague (3) Client (s)
Must perform a 3 hour practical assessment on applicant’s work experience in the field of natural hair and braiding
Students are required to attend all classes and pass all written assignments, quizzes and final exams with an average score of 80% or better to be eligible to sit for Illinois State Licenses.
